Abstract

In order to understand the relationships between the Government Security Organs, the Army (FFMM abbreviated in Spanish) and the Press, it is necessary to know each one’s nature and mission, into a democratic regime. Looking at the specific Colombian case, daily experience shows that, some times, certain Institutions work hardly to move journalists to distance –at least temporarily- from different types of information. But at the same time, those Institutions push journalists to diffuse some not very important information. To keep good relationships, closing the Security Organs and Army doors to mass media is as negative as to inform in an incomplete or mistaken way. Hence, the media information functions can not ever be replaced or taken by the Government. Press organisms must always have opportune and just access to news, because searching and diffusing the truth are the journalists’ mission.
