Abstract

The study focuses on the first stirrings of Generation X: How it emerged with its indolence and lack of expectation for future, with no anchor in the past, and with an insipid, colorless present. The author defines what is meant by Generation X from the 50’s to the 90’s, then offers a brief look at the historical development of the ideas that provoked and allowed for a generation of this type. Several examples of films and characters that illustrate this phenomenon are provided.
